Wooden Door trims - re-cover

Having had the dash and switch panel redone by LCC, I'm thinking of recovering the wooden door strips in leatherette to match the dash top and door.

Anybody tried anything similar ? ... or will the Style Police get me ?

That should lookmOK,ive seen them painted as well but matching leather should look good IMHO
