Paul,

I used Mobil 1 15w-50 Motorsport in your car (not the Mobil 1 Racing 4T 15W-50 bike stuff).

It was probably much too good for an old iron lump like the V6 2.9, but it always had very good oil pressure compared to other S2's.

It seems to have been discontinued.

You need an old school oil with high zddp content to minimize valve train wear.
Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w50 mineral oil fits the bill. Or Castrol Classic / GTX
Modern synthetics can be too thin IMHO.

GTX half price at Wilkinsons at the moment. 4L 15/40 part synthetic £9.99, 10/40 full synthetic £12.99

Timely thread this. I have 2 x 4lts of GTX semi in the garage and I wondering whether to use this on my next oil change. I got it from Asda when it was on special offer at £9.99 so even if I change it again later this summer it’ll still work out a lot cheaper than putting an expensive synthetic in. Views?

I have been using Mobil 1 15w50 - but I tend to think it has encouraged a leak near my dizzy - which is a bit annoying as I can see where its coming from!
