As per the heading really, does anyone on here know if the sump pans are interchangeable?
Austin's is looking like it could do with replacing, getting quite corroded.
Yes, I know it's an engine out job. frown

Same block, so yes, different gaskets though

Thanks David,
I presume the different gasket is due to the modification to the timing cover?

I have a 2.8 sitting in my crashed xr4x4, let me know if you need some parts.
Don´t think shipping cost that much...

The 2.8 pan has inbuilt spacer pegs and the 2.9 has them in the gasket

2.8 gasket has holes for the pegs and 2.9 doesn't

Maffe, thanks for your kind offer, I will let you know if I can't find any closer to home. Or I could just pop up to wherever you've moved to north of Umea yikesbiggrin

Seriously, won't your sump pan be corroded given the local climate?
Also I don't have any Kronor, only beer tokens. It must cost quite a few of them to send a sump pan from the Arctic?beerbeerbeerbeerbeerbeer
Looking forward to meeting up again in July.

Doesn't the 4x4 have a very different sump scratchchin

I bought an old 2.9 engine from a Granada (I think, could have been Sierra?)4x4 and seem to recall one of the drive shafts goes straight through it!

2.8 could be completely different?

Just to complicate things, I'm on the track of a proper 2.8 one, no idea of condition until I see it, but the guy says he's also got an ally one, which I would prefer, but no idea if the dimensions are the same.
I don't think it's a dry sump version.
I think I'll get both! scratchchinsmile
Oh, and a sumpguard for the Mondeo in case I decide to do a bit more rallycrossing. biggrin
