Edit: I think just having holes drilled through would significantly weaken the main chassis rails, looks like stiffening plates are welded in place.
And it's for sump removal, dunno about g'box.

Hi Alan, I made up two plates, each with four M8 nuts welded on. these were then welded to the insides of the chassis rails, four holes had to be drilled into the chassis to clear the nuts.
I considered bolting right through, using larger holes one side and spacer tubes (seem to recall this is how tow bars were often fitted in "my" day) but thought the way I chose a little neater?
The removeable cross member is only square because that's all I had handy at the time.
One day it would be nice to come up with something neater and giving better clearance for the gearbox
