Brakes, Disks, Pads, Yaaaaawwwwnnnn!!!!!
Discussion
I know this has been covered many times, so many times in fact I got quickly got bored trawling through the old forums on it.
But my question or quest for information is about bolting Griff 500 callipers on my S3C and what disks and pads to use.
I know it can be done as I read it here, and handily enough there is a set lying around on the garage floor which I checked and will just bolt on! Bloody fantastic.
But what disks, I didn't want standard disks for the griff because they are not grooved.
So what is a good set off grooved disks to use? Pagid, ferodo, black diamond and do I need to look any further than green stuff pads?
Im off to I know this has been covered many times, so many times in fact I got bored quick trawling through the old forums on it.

Two of the best are:-
www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame-detail.asp?PAGE=/black-diamond-brakes.htm
www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame-detail.asp?PAGE=/tarox-brake-discs.htm
I think I have the Tarox ones with green stuff pads and standard calipers. Braking is very good indeed.

Just realised another thing you said wildfire
Quote "unless your tracking it", because I am.
Done Oulton park where I killed the standard items and am off to Penbury circuit in Wales on Monday.
I actually did think the green stuff are more then up to track days being a kevlar composite pad!

Its funny because I never really had the intention of tracking mine, been meaning to track the mini for god knows how long.
But I was at Oulton Park the other week tracking my dads griff 500, so I said to the track official "What happens if I peel the sticker of that on there (the Griffith) and put it on that one there" (my S
) "No problems" came the reply.
Anyway about an hour later and I still couldnt believe how much fun and easy that car is on the limit!!!
Less grip means more fun in my book!

Cheers for the links Kentish, will have a good look a bit later
You're welcome.
The Green stuff pads are good for fast road and probably not too bad for track use.
The Jap sport Tarox discs heat the pads and de-glaze them so brakes are there without much warmimg required. The black diamond are basically the same.
My discs are a bit worn now to be honest and they still bring the car to a halt very well. It's difficult to demonstrate how effective they are here but to give you an idea, I can be doing 70+ to the final marker before a roundabout and still stop with ease (as long as it's dry). They are a bit better than my Passat and that has discs all round and they are a fair bit better than our 7 month old LR freelander.

Even better, I've found a 4 ltr Chim I could afford with a tiny cash infusion from the bank. ![]()
So the S may be going Chris?
The Chim is really getting to be a reasonable buy, I saw one when I was looking the other week for just £7.5k, that's less than many V8S.
I'd like a Chim but not sure I could part with the S and I couldn't run both. Wife wouldn't let me
