Anyone got any idea where I get hold of a (preferably tailored) car cover (for indoor and outdoor use).

Thanks

Martin

Leven do one for the S(www.leventechnology.co.uk/tvr.htm).

Although it's a bit pricey, the quality and fit are great. It's made of a a heavy PVC fabric with a soft inner lining. Before this I had a thin rain proof elasticated jobbie from Halfords, it was a pain to put on and used to flap around when windy. Hence I never bothered to put it on, and then the car would get soaked ...

If you plan on using it frequently, I think it's worth paying up for the Leven product ...

Strange that you should ask because my gf being a very good machinist (Loose covers, curtains and a load more )
She and I have been planning to make a cover for car and roof sections to stop me damaging them, anyone else is interested?
Only problem is she cut three nerves two tendons and a artery in her hand two weeks ago so she wont be able to work for another ten weeks.

If you are still in the market for one then give me a email.

Thanks mate, I will make sure I do!!
All because of one of my stupid drunk mates aswell!!

She had only picked up her industrial sewing machine a week before to make matters worse

Lol, it could quite easily happened that way, mini this and that everywhere at home!!!

She was walking down the road with a bottle in her hand (not the best idea I know) when a drunk friend thought it would be a great idea to jump on top of her.
She went straight down smashing the bottle on the floor with her hand still round it!!!
Shes only 4ft something and 7 stone, what a muppet

Sorry for the hijack

Dave, sorry the second comment wasn't meant to be flippant just pulling your leg a little mate regarding your mini fetish

That sure was a nasty injury and I sincerely hope all goes well and that she makes a full & speedy recovery.

I think dave's mini fetish is pretty mild really. We've got 7 in the family. I have 2, my father has 3 and each of my brother's have one.

Anyhow I digress, hope your gf recovers soon Dave. If I keep the car I would be interested in some covers. I have the Leven one, fantastic but it tens to scuff slightly where it touches the paint. I think I'll sew some soft fabric on the inside of it.

Good to see lots of mini's going to good homes, perhaps one day your family will have them all and will tuck them away somewhere far from the dirt and rain!
Unlike me, my mini has the right hump with me at the mo.
I think its jealous over the new tvr, doesnt like sharing my attention!

Thats one thing Ive been thinking about recently.
I thought depending on price of material, A gortex top layer with suede inner or something a bit like suede but a lighter.

My S3 is being picked up on Saturday and new owner is garaging it so I have a Leven Tech car cap going spare....

1 year old - good as new (v. heavy duty - should outlast the car!) leather look outside, brushed lining inside + quick release around mirrors, and front/rear flaps for security (which I don't usually bother with!)
It is tailored, so won't fit the Chimaera, so I need funds towards a replacement. £150 new - yours for £100.

If you're interested, email me through my profile.

Hi Chris,

Thanks, I wasn't going to pursue this as I didn't want to say I'd buy yours and then offer on another but as you have mentioned it for me then I'm much appreciated.

Cheers,
Kevin

PS
R U still undecided about parting with your S then?
I had another thought, why not go for the cheapy diesel to keep you mobile at minimal cost and look to put a cossie V6 in your S?

I'd have done this to mine and I even had a cossie lump lined up for £300 ready to go in but posted on PH and was advised that it doesn't fit without chassis mods. However, I have since be reassured by Spivvy that it fits fine but is involved as it means wiring mods and ECU swap and custom exhaust manifolds. Not sure about clutch and gearbox options either but it has been done and I guess advice should be available to help you through the upgrade if you decide that is the way to go.

Food for thought eh?

Well I'm not proud - the offer is open to anyone! I haven't stuck it in the ads yet, but I thought the S forum should have first dibs.

Kentish, if you are interested, it will give you the perfect opportunity to grab some Kent buddies, and convoy to Mid-Essex next month - and I'll bring the cover with me!

Hi Kieran,

I have mailed you off-line re the cover and yes good idea to meet up but I still have a few things to do to the car prior to any longer trips. Namely leaking fuel sender, fuel pressure regulator needs replacing and I need to fit some new rubbers on my Targa, so looks likely that the earliest will be October but I'm sure we can both meet up before then to sort out the cover.

Drop me an e-mail when you have a mo and we can sort something out.

Cheers,
K

Unfortunately, I don't have the facilities to fit a Cossie into the S. If I was home in Surrey then maybe. A cheap Diesel, say 106 will cost me £500 for the car, £400 insurance (This is the best I can find, mirroring my NCB) Then £165 in Road Tax, where as the Chim I'm interested in is around £8000. So If I can get what I want for the S then I can go for an immediately faster car. Where as new heads, chipping etc. will cost over this.

The blasted insurance company has loaded the premium, £440 more for this year.

Well I've got someone coming to see the car tonight, if they don't take it then I'll probably keep the S.
