Drain Plug On S2 Gearbox?
Discussion
I took my S2 for some chassis waxoil at a local garage and told him to change the gearbox oil while it was up on the ramps. He did the chassis waxoil but says there is no drain plug for the gearbox. Is this possible? I always thought all gearboxes have a drain plug. Otherwise how do you get the oil out?
Turn the car on its side and shake it maybe? Anyway, he says he checked the oil level and its all fine. I've never come across such a thing. Advice please....

You can drill and tap a drain plug in a type 9 box. Something like this:

Well, they say 'there is more than one way to skin a cat', and in this instance seems very true. From suction pumps to drilling holes to tilting the gearbox. Why couldn't Ford just put a drain plug in it like everyone else. Still, you live and learn. Thanks for all the information guys. I have a lot to choose from.
