Door Trim Nut Size

Hello all,

Sorry to be a pain but in the absence of the PH search facility and being unable to locate my copy of the bible...

You know the really awkward nut that holds the door trim in place on an S3? You know, the one where you have to take the speaker out and then reach up inside almost to the top of the door and there's one nut holding the trim on? None of my spanners fit it, so I need to buy one and I want to be sure I get the right size. Does anyone know the sizing?

M5 - you need a 6mm or 7mm spanner (can't remember which)

replace it with an M5 wing nut - much less fiddly next time!

Handy hint: Take a blob of plasticene or similar & take an impression of the nut.
From this you can measure the size you need.

Thank you to all! Oddly enough I replaced the other side with a wing nut a few years back, and the next time I went back in, discovered the mechanic had changed it back! How annoying is that!!

Anyway - Plasticine idea is genius - and confirms it's a 7mm nut.

None of that nonsense on my s1, a light breeze and the door card comes off.

Solder the fiddly little nut to an M6 (10mm spanner) nut then it's easier to get a "grip of" if you've got sausage fingers like me, and 10mm ratchet spanners are a lot more common than 7mm !


unfortunately Stainless won't solder so I had to lower my standards and use brass nuts, they solder nice 'n easy

Mine were 6mm on 1 side and 7mm on the other
