Just wanted to say hello...
Discussion
Thought that I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to everybody on the S forum!
I've been lurking around the site for a few months...in fact since June when some silly t**t decided to knock me off my motorbike
While sitting around recovering I started pondering what I could do to cheer myself up - I came to the conclusion that I would fulfill a boyhood dream and get a TVR - something for the weekend sir?!
I've always had a soft spot for the S series (I remember sitting in them at a London motorshow many moons ago), and fancy getting my grubby mits on an S3 or V8S.
Here lies the dilemma....I'm just about in a position to start looking for a suitable S3 now, which suits me fine because I need a new toy right this minute! But I went along to the Austec open day last week, and since hearing the gorgeous burble of the V8S I really, really want one. To get a get a V8S I would need to save for quite a few months more. Will my lustful desire for noise and excitement
be satisfied by an S3 or will I wish I had waited?!
anyhow....hello everybody!

Hi
I was in the same dilemma and decided to get an S3 for now and a V8S later rather than wait.
However I bought one with a fast road cam and with a bit of tweeking by one of the tuners tomorrow, I'm going to wait and see if that is enough for me cos I am enjoying it so much.
Watch this space!!!!
Bugsy

Hey Fizzy
Going by the comments of (a few) long term V6 owners (Ive only ever experienced the V8) you might start lusting after a V8 eventually, but that said, 90% of the people here are V6 owners and all of them very happy indeed (except those who had to sell for vairous reasons)
I dont think you can buy a TVR and regret it, you'll be chuffed to bits whichever you go for.

A lot of it will come down to costs. The V6 is a great car for the money, faster than the majority of things on the road. But bear in mind you won't keep up with the V8s on the open roads.
I almost sold my S for a V8 (Chim) last week, but just couldn't do it. The S is a unique car. So my advice is to weigh up what you can afford then make a decision. Which ever car you go for you will making a good choice. It's horses for courses.

Cost wise, the V6 makes a lot of sense and its probably pleanty fast enough....I'm guessing that I would spend a lot of time just poodling around with the top down (although there is always that temptation to floor it when some chav in his Nova GL is giving your rear bumper a close inspection...don't you just hate that?!)
So long as I'm aurally pleasured then I'll be quite happy!
Anyway I could always upgrade later on if I felt the absolute need.....or even loose the daily runner, ignore the home improvements and have one of each!!

I tried going to Silverstone. It was pretty tough.
Didn't you have the Rev Limiter with you Chris...?
I disabled her by taking her to a musical the night before.I also gave her the camera so she couldn't see how fast we were going.
We were a little late on saturday going to see friends and I was driving so my "rev limiter" could have a drink and I think she was shocked at how quickly her Freelander could go!
The v6 in the S sounds just great I don't think you'll be disappointed on that count.
I've had one for 2 years and the most common remark I get from people is 'that sounds lovely what's the engine, is it a v8?'
I don't know what magic the boys at TVR do to the engines but it sounds nothing like a Sierra or Granada.
That said - after spending the weekend in Cardiff at the P&P show I now want the Speed 12 as that is the absolute mutts n*tts for aural pleasure.

Hiya,
I got my S3 at the end of July and I haven't stopped grinning! My poor Triumph Daytona hasn't had a look in... Mine has got a V8 exhaust and sounds wicked. To me it's not about how fast it is, it's the feel and sensation that comes with driving a real car - a hot hatch may be quicker but the driving experience is in another league. Do it - you you won't regret it!

This is true. You'll enjoy the proper sports car feel, seating, sound, visability etc
but most importanytly the fact that the S does seem to take you for a ride more than you taking it for a ride. Its totally engaging, massively enjoyable, making driving exciting, and the 'actual driving experience' factor (the reason you want a TVR) is fantastic
