Looks very cool. I still really like the 17" Wheels.
Cheers Chris, I liked them more when I actualy got them on the car as they give a different "look" to the car depending on the angle the car is viewed from.
I initially wondered about the style but I think it was because you usually see an S with one of the standard sets of wheels and something "different" looked very "different" at first but I am very pleased with them.

What a beauty!! Like the dials--lot nicer than the straight across variety. With those wheels you will have lost your "classic" insurance so what do they charge you now?

How do you find the handling with the 17s? I guess it can't get much more bump than a standard S mind!
My shocks could do with replacing but handling is better with the 40 profile tyres although I do think they look a bit small showing too much wheel arch space. It corners very well now and the ride isn't really any firmer to the extent of being uncomfortable.
I've always thought the car rides well over poor roads for such a sporty car, could be that mine is damped softly I guess.
What do you think of the Audi TT mirrors?

Has the rolling radius changed, then? Conventionally when you fit bigger rims you fit lower profile tyres to keep the outside diameter the same. If you don't do this, the speedo will misread.
That's rolling circumference
Yes I kept it the same but the tyres look too narrow to me and I may increase a bit when I change them oneday, it's OK nothing really to bother about too much. Also, I don't think the speedo is too accurate on most S's anyway!

They are a big improvement over the funny "ears" type mirrors. I hear they fold up? How difficult were they to fit. I guess they wouldn't fit an S3 as there are recessed holes in the doors for the V*/S3 style mirrors.
Not too bad Chris but a fair bit of grinding was required!
The door mounts may be the same on the S2, I had a black plastic socket bonded into the door which took the original "ear" mirror mounting. I ground it off flush to fit the new ones.

Thanks magnus, my old wheels were in need of refurb and for a bit more than this I could buy the wolfrace ones that you see here. So I did
The insurance company said they wanted to charge me more as it was a modification but I commented that these wheels are a quarter of the price the originals cost secondhand from Bellhill salvage so I didn't see why an increase was needed and if I did claim I'd expect a set of the original style wheels to replace them, so they thought about it and called me back and said they accepted it with them as they are. I did notice that the policy document doesn't mention them but I did supply photos and got an agreed value of £6500 so there is proof that they had seen the wheels on the car when they accepted my cover.
