Poor old Trev has been thrown out of the garage and has been banished to the garden.

The good news is that after years of working in a drafty, leaky concrete pre-fab shack I'm finally getting my dream garage. Work in progress .....

So excited. Wife thinks I'm sad. She doesn't understand.

Envious here too, since mine's as tight as an otter's backside - which is watertight

It is, yes. We went with Brookwood Barns after numerous quotes ( over 2 years ! ). We visited previous builds of each potential vendor and Brookwood seemed to be the best combination of quality and cost and they listened carefully to our requirements and did their best to meet them. Not all did. It's a standard frame but we're having the upstairs over only two bays so the end bay is full height.

So far they've been brilliant on site and it's gone pretty smoothly. There have been some issues here and there but they're sorted without any fuss. I've been taking a picture of the site every morning from an upstairs bedroom so I'll have a time lapse of the whole build.

Are those two central posts going to restrict the internal space meaning you effectively get three singles side by side? I assume they are to take the load of the roof. Still huge luxury though. Are you going to fit a wood-burner for added luxury in the winter? Site it near the bar with some comfortable chairs and have admission by ticket only.laugh

The wife's home office is on the 1st floor so the posts are there to support all that plus roof of course. Couldn't get away from it unfortunately. The bays are deep though so there's space at the back for benches etc. I've also measured up the end bay and a two post lift fits nicely so there shouldn't be too much restriction.

Now a log burner...there's an idea hehe

Yep - the end bay is full height for exactly that reason. The only bit I haven't settled on is the floor treatment. I've had paint before which is OK but not great. PVC tiles could get messy. Would hard tiles break with jacks etc ? Dunno yet. I'll sit next to my log burner with my pipe and think on it some more.

Is your wife really that heavy? laughredcard

A two post lift – now you’re really making us envious. Have you thought about polishing the concrete? Comes up like grey marble and virtually indestructible.

hehe She isn't, but she's from Greek farming stock so it could happen overnight. Usually when a ring is put on their finger.. but there seems to be some sort of delay.

Now, polished concrete......hadn't thought of that. Will need to look into it.
