Youngsters - insurance costs

Are there any young (sub 25) owners around?

My S is on eBay and a lad came to test it on the weekend and took a shine to it, he's just sold a GT6 so was expecting the insurance to be comparable.

Unfortunately the cheapest quote he's found is £1500 on a limited mileage policy (A Flux), which is quite a bit more than the triumph!

It's a shame as he really was taken with the car and I'd really like him to have it as he seemed like he'd take really good care of it, which actually matters to me.

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of getting insurance for an S as a younger driver?

Ask AndrewS2 - or search his recent post about insurace. He's just hit 25 and his insurance reduced significantly.

I used Admiral to insure my Chimaera at 24 , with a small value claim, 8000mi limit, for £1500 living in NW London. Price increased/decreased according to location. If I still lived in Aberdeen it would've been ~£1200. I expect it to drop a fair bit next time as I'll be 25 and I won't have to declare the claim.

The potential owner is 24 and lives in Bucks, so I guess £1500 seems about right then.. Shame really.

My younger son (22) and his friends are currently using Sky and getting good deals. Not on TVR's but they have fair herd of horse power between them.

I'm glad I live in Sweden. I pay about £ 100 for one year.
No deductible if the driver is over 24, otherwise it costs £ 100.
Unlimited mileage and insurance up to £ 16,000.

I got my S when I was 23 and had it insured for about 6-700. That was with MSM insurance on their kit car policy. I'm still on it intact as it is still the cheapest I can find.

At the time it was on a driveway with 7500 miles per year.
