I read on the winter S meet thread that Andy(?) might have his car 'cocooned' for the winter?

Due to moving into rented accommodation (with no garage) whilst waiting for our next house move next year, my S will be laid-up in a friend's garage for the winter.

Has anyone, Andy(?) got any advice regarding how best to protect/keep the car over the winter?

For example, I read ages ago on a corvette forum in the states about putting the car on axle stands and putting rags in the exhaust so that rodents don't crawl into them(!)

Cheers
Richard

This has been asked many times on here and the general concensus is that the most reliable S's are the ones that are used on a regular basis. There is a good winter lay-up section in the S-Bible.

Thanks for the reply Paul.

I take your point but it is pretty much unavoidable at this juncture. Thanks for the pointer to the bible though, obviously haven't read it as closely as I should!

Use it all winter. That's the way forward. Top down, gloves on, 5 laters, sunglasses, hat, face frozen in a grin. No better feeling.

Definitely put the car on axel stands, if you plan not to use it for 6 months, put a bit of oil down the bores, I have heards of rodents living in the tail pipes and some accidents when starting up. Some Silica Gel inside the cockpit would also help.

Thanks for the comments chaps, esp Andy for the mail.

Next stop Halfords(?) for axle stands.
