Fog light switch in a V8S

The rear foglight switch in my car does not illuminate when on. Does anyone know whether this is likely to be a bulb in the switch, or whether replacement is the only fix ? And if replacement, does anyone know where they are available ?

Believe that it's an old TR7 switch (I owned one once many years ago). People have said that they are available from Rimmer Brothers, sorry but I can't do the 'linky' thing. You should find them fairly quickly with the power of google.

So your driving lights work ok, just not the switch light ?

Yep - I think it all works fine. It's just the bulb in the switch that's gone.

Could this be the switch ? Looks like a front fog light diagram though (unless they are both the same) ?

Before you spend any money just check the connections on the back of the switch. Just slide the centre console forward and jiggle the wires. You can also get your fingers to the switch if you pull the radio out.

Yep - that's all been checked. Unfortunately it seems to be the switch, and I am told they are sealed units (bulbs cannot be replaced in them ?).

Mine does the same; have an external warning light to keep the MOT man happy. The lights work fine it is just the warning light that doesn't. I must get around to replacing it.

Mine show's one with Fog and the other with a light symbol.

On the basis that it is no good (I think it will not pass MOT like that) I would try to open it up. Anything is fixable with enough TVR spirit!

Thanks Simon, I'll give them a call tomorrow. The first place I contacted said their switches don't contain any lights, which seemed strange.

I've just pulled my spare switch apart and there is no bulb in it! So the bulb must be in the plug which goes in the back. In which case it's probably replaceable. Sealed unit my arse

The black and purple/red wires on the left go to the bulb. Pull this part off the back of the switch and see what you can see.

Looking at the site again the switch picture ( which you can enlarge )
Doesn't seem to show the orange light part.
Be Intrested in what they say tomorrow , well today.

The one that Rimmers sells is the TR7 headlight switch. This is a two position switch with no lens for an internal bulb so is a replacement for the heater fan but not the fog light switches.

by coincidence this appeared today - also looks as though it doesn't have the 'lens' for the light.
