Rustproofing

I have now completed one outrigger replacement, I`ve decided to use this http://www.dinitrol.co.uk/ for rustproof treatment. For those that haven`t used it, it is very good at what it does. I`ve applied it to aviation structures and it really is a very tough and long lasting finish. Once I`ve applied dinitrol, a good coat of waxoyl is going to be applied on the top surfaces.

Forgive my ignorance but aren't dinitrol and waxoil very similar?

Don Dinitrol has better penetrating properties and will run and creep into difficult areas, Waxoyl is much thicker and gives a heavier coating. I think a coating of both gives best of both worlds imho.

Are you spraying/pumping either or both of these gungy substances into the chassis or just coating the outside?

Hi Steve jury's out in my way of thinking, to maintain my chassis after using por 15 paint protection products...
so the dinitol products I will use sparingly..

Jenolite = for wiping down very light surface rust which appears..

Dinitol rc800 hard rust converter ...

Dinitol 4941 use in key areas of chassis scraping ,or front of outriggers [stone chips] ..I believe this is self reparing .

The only product not sure about...

Dinitol ml3125 = cavity wax for inside of chassis tubes. more difficult to use in spray if body on, apart from taken bolts out and spraying or drilling a discreet whole and sealing..
the negative of using inside chassis, if require welding again 15 years or so time , or an event of accident repair, new welds wont adhere to the gungy [phillpot word] stuff..

So the key is maybe for me, use sparingly [don't cover in gunge]

I quite like tetra schutz for the outside I know its not pretty and should only be used over decent paintwork but it certanly protects the paint / powder coating , I cosidered using it inside the chassis tubes but if anything I will drill a couple of holes and poor in some brand new engine oil ,should be more easily cleaned up when the out riggers are replaced in twenty years, I hate rust .

Thanks Steve. I'm sure your way is best but being a cheapskate I just diluted the waxoil 50% with white spirit for the first application (it seemed to creep into everywhere)and then sprayed undiluted over the top once most of the white spirit had flashed off. That was two years ago and so far so good. I didnt spray anything inside the tubes as they were sound and I didnt want to compromise their integrity by drillng holes. In twenty years someone will probably curse me for not using dinitrol, in which case I will just come back and haunt them.

Hi Mick, thanks for the offer, very kind. I already have Dinitrol and Waxoyl and one outrigger looks the dogs danglies, again I`ve got a few spots of corrosion elsewhere too, nothing serious, angle grinder with wire brush attached gets shot of it rather well .

POR 15 Gotta say the stuff is 'bullet' proof.....Feel at ease knowing my chassis has this.
