An old question I am sure, Engine oil?
Discussion
Presently rebuilding my v8 s, the engine went into the refurbed chassis last night, and thoughts have turned to things like Lubrication, and I wondered what present thinking was on engine oil. The car is for road use, so will not be thrashed..........(too hard), any thoughts gratefully received.
Many thanks

Endless advice/suggestions on Chimaera and general TVR forum.... for example.
I think a high Zinc content is often reccommended to minimize cam wear

I have read many many posts on this and the item below got a good write up.

Not too pricey either.I've got good old fashioned Castrol GTX 15-40 in mine at the moment, although it is semi-synthetic now. Well after all it is a good old fashioned engine; have you seen the size of the gap between the cogs in the oil pump? Think about your gearbox oil as well. Don't let anyone suggest ATF! Use a good quality synthetic or semi-synthetic gear oil.
