Lost keys

Two month ago I lost my main set, now the spare has gone too.

Any tips on where I can source a new set of keys/locks?

i think getting the old ones out is a pita

i believe its a sierra column, capri door handles so its a ford job. normally getting them out needs i key though i believe

really lost?

Lost at the moment. I'm hoping that by not looking for them they'll turn up soon.

The car's been off the road for almost months with exhaust manifold, suspension and air intake problems and today was to have been the first trial.

Ho hum, at least the cricket went well....

If its a Ford column and you haven't got the keys I think that you have to knock out the circular disks at the bottom and then you can pop the lock out. Theres loads of places that will cut you new keys if you have the code for them, which if you're like me you won't have

I feel your pain! ('cos the same thing happened to me 2 months back) I got a key cut against the key code given in the docs with the car but it didn't fit

What turned out to be the easiest for me was to take off one of the door handles with the lock cylinder in it. (I had to take the glass out to get at the screws that hold the handle on)

Then I took the handle and cylinder to a local auto locksmith and they got the cylinder out and cut a new key to match the cylinder from peering at the tumblers. Even told me the (correct) code. I think it was £10 or £20. A lot cheaper than calling one out.

If you haver lost the immobiliser fob, that might be more of a problem, particularly if your wiring loom turns out to be as hacked about as mine is!

Panic over!

After I lost the first a couple of months ago set I filed the spare for safety in with the MOT, Insurance etc.

It was only today that I needed them to start up and check the exhaust for leaks that I went to the key tray and ......, then every drawer.... then all over the garage.....

Many thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.

I think I'll get half a dozen spares cut just in case

I am doing the same & an Immobiliser fob

I don't know what make my immobiliser is so I guess there's no chance of getting a spare fob. It looks like a Cobra because a friend has one and the fobs look the same.
