Hi Folks,
Wonder if anyone could give me some guidance? I have a poor earth connection on my S1 - as a result all my dials , cd player etc are dependant on the electric load - ie when anything demands electric the volts drop causes all dials to move! Earth to chasis ok in engine compartment. I understand there is an earth strap from chasis from near the crossmember near gearbox? Can anyone tell where the other end of strap is connected please? Cheers.

To the gearbox but this shouldn't effect gauges etc. it is the earth for the starter and engine electrics.I understand there is an earth strap from chasis from near the crossmember near gearbox? Can anyone tell where the other end of strap is connected please? Cheers.
On mine there are earth connections onto the chassis member that slope outwards to brace the front outrigger corner on the nearside and another not far from the battery tray. Best to just have a good hunt around the engine bay/chassis area and see what you can find.
Thanks for the quick reply.
The chassis has a good negative - showing full voltage however the negative to radio and another negative wire i found in passenger side panel are not at the same potential as the chassis. This fault seems to effect all dials and controls - when I put hazzards on all dials move up and down in unison with the hazzards
! Time for a full inspction! Anyone know of a wiring diagram for an S1? The one I ve just purchased looks like its been electrically butchered in the past!!
