I have had my TVR S3 for over a year now and love it to bits but I am just about to do a spot of restoration to my TVR S3 and after a bit of advice on a couple of things.
1) The drivers door has dropped and you have to lift it to make sure it shuts properly?
2) Where can I get my hands on a spare throttle cable as I have heard they can fail so want to keep a spare in the car?
3) Is trying to get the ECU remapped a good idea or a bad move?

The drivers door may just be adjustment. I did mine and found that the bolts to the hinges just needed re-tightening. Or it could be the 'top-hat' bushes are worn (mine weren't) but these are relatively cheap.
Spare throttle cables are like the proverbial 'hens teeth'. You may find one in a scrapyard on an old Granada or Sierra, best bet is to make sure the ends aren't fraying and carry a joining kit if the worst happens.
I don't think the ECU can be re-mapped - Its a 'primitive' type from the early days of such things, the only alternative is to install a 'piggy back' ECU or replace entirely with a modern programmable unit.
Others may be along that no more - but that's my thoughts.

I Had a very quick look at the door hinge last night but could not see a lot. do you have to take any panels off to get to the hinge or is it different on a s3 because the doors are longer?
Also I am getting fed up of adjusting my mirrors every time I take the cover off and was wondering if any other types of mirrors fitted apart from the odd looking Citroen type mirrors?

Bear in mind, if you have those citroen cx mirrors fitted and don't like them, they have quite a value attached, especially if electric ones, I suspect partly due the fact they were fitted to Lotus, McClaren, jag XJ220 and aston DB7 to name a few. Worth knowing what you might be chucking away, before you go down the route of swapping for MX5 ones
