Gearbox Tunnel Screening
Discussion
Well, I assume its screens something. Radio probably.
Anywho..mine was very shabby having virtually none left after taking out the carpets

So, picked up some of this from fleabay...

And, with what seemed to be alot of impact adhesive; certainly enough to make ones head spin, glued it in 3 sections..

The whole thing has electrical continuity so I'll run an earth wire to the chassis.

Hi Dave, when you eventually put your new carpet in, are you intending to fit underlay, or just glue carpet directly onto floor?
I only ask as carpet replacement is my first big job once summer is over.
Also, have you made templates of the old pieces or are you going to ad lib??
Thanks,
Graham

Hi Graham, Plan is to put down underlay as it helps with the sound proofing. The old carpet didn't so much come up in bits, rather it was in bits to start with, so no template available. I think the options for the underlay are:-
Cut pieces roughly to size, stick them down and trim.
Make templates out of brown paper and cut underlay against them
Get a carpet fitter mate in to do it for me
Wait until the car is finished and take the thing up to a local coach builder chappy and pay him to do it.
As for the carpet, in the boot I'll get the coach builder to do it. In the office I'll get a pre-made set from one of the suppliers.
