Finally found something wrong with the S.
The branch adjacent to the os bulkhead has a split 20mm wide, it's taken a while to find as I had to remove the overflow header to get access.
I'm not thinking of a repair as they're not too good all round.
The recent thread about stainless steel manifolds will be useful but does anyone have opinions about mild steel ones?
I've heard a lot of grumbling about stainless being less flexible.
Good opportunity to buy more bling for under the bonnet anyway

Ive just fitted a stainless pair from Racetech , not cheap but a straight swap , only a retorque of the head - manifold bolts required , I also used Mikalor clamps on the joint with the hockey stick pipes , all in all an easy fit although I was lucky on removing the old manifolds with no problems.

Thanks Al, can't harm to see if it would do the job. Great if you could bring it.
Hi Eelblady, the stuff I used is from a heating spares merchant, used for sealing flues etc.
Had some spare from the log burner install, 12mm diameter is about £2 per metre, I fixed it with steel wire but an exhaust clamp or Jubilee clip would be better. Wear gloves the fibres are nasty. You could use paste as well.
This is only a temporary measure until the winter when there's time to do it properly. It silenced the racket though.
