Keeping a 'walnut' dashboard looking good
Discussion
I know these are few and far between, but I have the pleasure (and therefore the pain) of having one in my S. Can anyone tell me what type of paint these were finished in as I tried an acrylic based laquer with nasty consequences on a small hidden area...
If anyone has one of these I'd like to know what they use to keep it looking good.

I take it you have a full walnut sweeping dash. Is it actually walnut? Or is it paint like on the S3? If it is wood I would suggest furniture polish.
Its a full walnut sweeping dash, its paint. I don't believe there was ever a real walnut dash made for any S, even veneer would be unlikely due to the complexity in shape.
I think the use of furniture polish by previous owners may be the the cause of the reaction I had when I used the laquer.
I may be wrong but I'm convinced that my S3 is a photo finished sticky vinyl, from other comments and my conviction that veneer would not be suitable and not used by TVR because it would be too expensive.
Walnut and other finishes are available from 3M and others and that's the route I'm going, because after a while the foil lifts and goes crappy.
I do think however that the finish on the metal door trims is some kind of paint finish.
I might ask Blackpool tomorrow.

Full curved walnut-effect S2 sweeping dash (not S3) was originally painted on. I have seen one that looks much more professionally finished (less chips) than the others, but that may have been repainted.
Bugsy - The metal door trims vere originally painted, but some have been refinished with some kind of veneer (plastic?). The bare metal can be polished, or some other finishes can be applied (foliotec, etc).
