Might go take a look as it's local.

If anyone's got any questions about it I can do some digging.

MT75 gearbox is interesting, although gearlever may be a little too far forward in an S?

No mention of ECU so guess that's missing?

No AFU's so could it be a catalytic engine (can't make out any Lambda's on manifolds)? Seller reckons its from an '85 vehicle but is that too early for the 2.9i engine, don't know about Ford but as we all know TVR didn't get the 2.9 till very end of the 80's ?
I'm thinking possibly he has it wrong and was a '95 ambulance, not '85 which would make more sense, and would then be a cat engine (hydraulic lifters?)

Be interesting to see what it goes for, not a bad 100 quids worth especially if you have a use for the gearbox :scratchcin:

Mike - I had similar thoughts - doesn't stack up for a mid 80's car but I'm no guru!

Was hoping it'd be a Type 9 rather than a MT75 as I'm after one for the 3000M.

Might go and have a look and maybe a bid. If anyone's interested we could try a group buy?

If its out of an ambulance it will almost certainly be a low compression engine with a tame cam designed for torque not big bhp.

You may also find the ratios on the gearbox are also lower than a tvr box.

Yes.

(anything is possible if you have the skills, the money, the inclination, the enthusiasm, the ability, the desire, the know-how) wink

A little bit sardonic there Phillpot.
I like it biggrin

Marceli, a few S's have had a Cosworth transplant.
Not sure which gearbox / clutch is up to the job.
Try searching on here or Google Cosworth TVR S.
The bonnet may have to be chopped about a bit.....

Is this more helpful... Google search

Cosworth powered S, but it's the 4 pot from Sierra not the V6 I believe?

Low compression engines are good for a turbo or supercharger and you need a tame cam ;-)

Good pile of spares? Could well be a lot cheaper than the parts would cost?

Wow. I dont mean to help inflate the bidding on that but the water pump alloy housing is a discontinued item and would make £70 on its own. I bought a whole engine just to get that part, so now have the rest of the engine taking up a lot of space in my garage.

Ford price list is £76 even though you cannot buy them from them. I i only have the one which is currently an essential part of the cooling system, so no spare. But if you wanna offer £6000 for mine I will give you the S for free.
On second thoughts No, I cannot let the S go.... ,!

Thanks for the offer Mike, I bought the whole engine from Norman, and removed the necessary, thinking other bits could come in handy. Thankfully the old lump has been very reliable,so the spare resides in my workshop, wrapped up in blankets full of oil, but then my S has only done 50,000 miles from new.

Another, with gearbox, Somerset. Price looks a little steep to me.
