Nice and Steady!! maybe not

Ok gents...I have a huge mystery. I installed (or attempted to) a cruise control kit on the car...may not be vintage, but unlike most I hate long drives and having to focus on speed every 10-20 seconds just to ensure the cameras or cops don't catch me (and a bit of a whine, but kills the leg). She is all in (from what I can tell) but not engaging. The only thing I can thing of is the magnetic pulse sensor thingy is not working right. I have tested all the other wires and working great!!

So...the mystery is...which speedo pulse sensor (pulse generator) do I need? I have looked on the back of the speedo and appears to be a Stewart Warner speedo with a screw on cable. I have found sensors that can go onto the speedo (do not know the size of ours) and others that go onto the gearbox. I have read that getting to the gearbox speedo cable area is a pinta!! I know I am not the only person who has done this...but searching comes up empty.

I'm afraid I can't be much help with this one, it's the first time I've heard of cruise control on an S, so I'm quite intrigued by your post.
Does it have some sort of actuator/servo for the throttle?

I assume the higher spec Granadas had cruise control, may be worth getting a 2nd hand Haynes manual to get some idea of their installation.
Is your kit brand new, or taken from another car?

Regarding the speedo drive, on the Type 9 or Type N, some have a blanked-off speedo drive cable aperture on the opposite side to the actual one in use. Presumably this caters for LHD Fords. TVR in their usual manner used whatever they could get.their hands on.
I don't know if you could adapt something to use this aperture, you'd need a
drive gear, seal & retainer clip, plus something with a sealing flange giving you an output.
Is your speedo electric or cable driven BTW ?

Access is difficult, but not impossible, improved by removing the exhaust.
( I believe it helps if your are a dentist )

Good luck in your endeavours, personally I try to avoid long boring motorways if possible.

Glen, Thanks for offer! I got the kit months ago for another car, but don't have it anymore. My speedo is cable and I have read other posts about how much of a pinta getting the gearbox sender out. Getting it all wired in was the simple part, but the magnetic pulse sensor.

As for searching...I am horrible at it! Gonna look at it again . I did get some pix of the rear of the speedo and seems it is made by Stewart Warner (good brand!). I figured if worse, I will remove it this weekend to get a measurement of the cable and go from there.
