Does anybody know if somebody has bought the container full of S parts from TVR yet.
If so Who?

We could all chip in, buy the container, build Sbay.com and er... sell them to ourselves

The moulds and jigs for the S bodies are also supposed to be up for sale, has anyone heard anything?

Nothing other than that they were supposed to be for sale. Why are they selling? Business is business, they want to expand, is floorspace a problem?

I spoke to TVR last week and they were still waiting for an acceptable offer, all the parts are packed in a container so they will sell eventually, no chance of keeping the parts. My guess is someone like David Gerald is holding out for a good price then hopefully sell them on at a reasonable price rather than hold us over a barrel????

Will let you know as soon as I hear from them, I am speaking to TVR Power tomorrow so will ask.

Last I heard they had a number of sealed offers, none of which were much more than 1/4 of the price TVR want for it, (if that). I'm told the various people that have bidded have put in what they feel to be a sensible price but the factory is insisting on considerably more.

I am starting to get concerned about the practicaility of using the S as a daily driver given that several months after this all started we are still in the same stalemate.

What sort of parts?

Hmmmmm... I may have to consider the same thing as Psychobert as well.

Is it that important that there is a stock of spares for the S anywhere given that it has mainly Ford or Rover mechanical underpinnings?

I have only ever purchased two parts from TVR, the rest has been sourced from Ford main dealers ro other sources.

Granted, the body parts are a different story but TET mouldings do market the bonnets for all the S models which is the most likely panel to suffer serious damage. The rest of the body being GRP should be fairly simple to repair as long as it hasn't suffered serious traumor and components of the chassis can easily be fabricated and there are other specialists who can supply parts like the trailing arms etc.

The S went out of production years ago and it's hardly surprising that the parts from the manufacturer are diminishing, this is true of many other cars and where there is an enthusiastic following of a mark there will always be a niche for supply of unique parts and somebody who is enterprising enough to fill that niche.

IMHO of course

It's the bespoke parts such as trailing arms, steering rack that worry me.

Things are bad enough right now for the newer cars like the Cerbera - so far I've not heard of any major problems for S owners, but if the parts are all crated up and TVR don't want to open the crate to sell them, a sale will be needed ASAP.

I'm crossing my fingers for David Gerald as he is best placed having gone through the same thing with the older cars.

I'm waiting on Chrome bumper trim, spotlights and a couple of other small odds and ends.. Most of the mechanicals I'm not too worried about, being basically Ford it should be ok. Metalwork like chassis is either repairable with a bit of skill with a welder or too far gone to save the car.

Its a pain being told that there are parts in containers that I need and that can't be accessed..

Those of us that choose to run and S as a daily driver maybe the potential new customers of tomorrow; look after me today and I may well consider putting in an order for something more modern sometime. I know its a ball ache for the company storing something for a car thats not been in production for over 10 years, but I'm not sure they are being all that reasonable about letting it go..

Clutch stuff I beleive for the Cerb, can't recall right now.

I'd imagine TVRs small size mean that it bypasses those laws in the same way it does other legislation like crash testing, emissions etc.

Chassis is simple box section or tubing and can be repaired by any skilled welder.

Windscreen is available from Autoglass.

Door glass I'm not sure about, mine's stamped "TVR" but it could be the same as something else, anyone know??

Wheels ...there appear to be plenty of sets in Claire's garage . You can find these for reasonable money if you wait and look far enough. Or, you can go aftermarket if you're not a purist.

Trailing arms are available too. Adrian Venn is it?? possibly Joolz and LeeBee??

Ive an S owner up here in the region who's waiting for window winders etc

If TVR hang on much longer then they run the risk of pi55ing off more customers, who may of course consider a newer TVR later in life.

What if the Chimaera is the next crate?
