Limburg Mini Meet ( in August ? ) sounds very good, they have camping & beer*.
I was very tempted this year but family committments prevented me going.

I wonder if they have any peacocks ?

Best allow another € 800 , because the beer in Belgium isn't all that expensive.

I'm biased as was raised in "proper" Limburg, ie in Holland. Some very nice roads there to play on; pancakes are fantastic & selection of beers plentiful. Plus if I get on the S***, got 3 brothers out there to assist! Went to Sweden several year's ago: Ferry to Denmark then drive through. Nice but Sweden pricey. Ultimately, does it matter: surely anywhere is good in the S?

Believe me Steve, I actually have been trying to draw wiggles to/from Spain (the Pyrennees bit actually) because it's somewhere I've fancied going for a long while. But it's a long way to drive to, from or both just for a couple of days (even for us!) and using the ferry to Santander or Bilbao for one leg of the journey is long and expensive...

I'll keep working on some "wiggles" for 2014 and let you know asap

I agree, the Pyrennees be reached but is it a journey we'd want to take?

Heading SW from Calais to the Alps takes 6.5hrs on the direct motorway route with plenty of options for some twisty fun to make it an enjoyable 2 day drive to get there (e.g. this year Black Forest on way there, Vosges on way back).

Calais to Pyrnenees is nearer 10hrs on the direct route with limited chances for wiggly bits on the way. Overnight boat to northern Spain avoids that but at a high price...

I'm still playing with maps/ideas though...

While I think anyone would struggle to do a better job of organising a tour than Longers, he doesn't have the monopoly, Pyrennes or wherever, plan it, post it and the people will come!

Very true.
I only keep organising a Euro Tour each year because people keep asking about the next one and I love being out on the road as part of a group of S's with like minded individuals (even if sometimes we appear to be heading for the same place but going in different directions )
The evenings are pretty good too!!

I would LOVE to make the trip to the Pyrenees. French roads are such fun, especially in the lesser populated south of the country. It IS a long way though. I considered the ferry option too, but as you say it's expensive, and I don't really want to spend two whole days of a driving holiday stuck on boat. But...

...hang on lads, I've got an idea!

A Eurotrip to Toulouse. The famous and beautiful "pink city":



600 miles from Calais, or 700ish for a scenic route (and there ARE plenty).



Could be do-able in two days maybe? Then from Toulouse the Pyrenees are within reach for a day of

Personally, I'd be happy to add an extra day to the trip if it helped, but don't know how others feel about time and cost of course.
