Hi chaps and chappes's
been hovering for a while but tonight finally got to collect a blue s2 been garaged for a while
reg is G977 WBY
Anybody no its history it was in the last chaps ownership since 2000.
it is blue with a not sure dirty olive brown leather interior.
got it back to my lock up and just had to get it on my lift to check properly i had not got myself a lemon as i could not check it properly. "as if i no what to look for without your help"
very dry and flaky powder-coat with lots of surface but really solid to my surprise

can anyone explain why it says 280s on the log book and 290 on the rear
Because TVR couldn't be a***d to change it. Many TVR S2's are registered as 280 and some TVR V8S's have 290 on the V5.They made great cars, but were c**p with paperwork.

N.B. the chassis outriggers begin to rust at the top of the tube - the bit you can't see - and can look perfectly OK from below.very dry and flaky powder-coat with lots of surface but really solid to my surprise

The simple answer is "TVR".There is quite a bit of variability in how they were registered. Steve's Heath "bible" The TVR S Series explains some of it. Well worth having a copy as it contains lots of useful S stuff.
As an S2 it should have the 2.9 engine and therefore be labelled 290 - but anything can happen!
[quote=alfa7530v6]Thanks quite an eclectic bunch then.
the car is now in Stafford after coming over the border from Shropshire
If Stafford is home then that makes two of us. Welcome to the fringe. If you want to send me a message I will happilly supply contact details and any help that I can.

Hi Welcome to TVR S ownership.
As others have said don't be fooled with a few flakes of rust on the chassis, take a look at my posts I did a couple of Months ago, especially the second link.
The tubing looked ok but once I had cut it out the top portion was in a terrible state!

i have been looking at a few old posts but what is the best way to sort some light white marks a bit like mildew on the leather. it is now in a dry garage that will help.
You sure it's leather only the seats are actually moo cow the rest is vinyl.Re your marks I had some pre re trim on centre console never did figure where they came from, good luck they are mostly all works in progress and rare cars too.
I do find some other owners tend to look down on the s which is a shame as it saved tvr many years ago.

I take your word for it it looks like leather will try and clean it of with some mild detergent first.
but i have just had delivered some leather cleaner and hide food so either way we can sort it.
not a major problem interior is in good nick no damage.
only marks are on the corners of the roof panels when they have been stored and nicked the corners of the cloth they will need doing. and i have saved the relevant links on this site.
so much knowledge can't loose
Hi John,
First welcome to the team...you WILL enjoy your S.. )
Ref a couple of your points...
...Don't worry about the roof panels, S owners don't put their roofs up...

Only some though , and I think noticeably less than when TVR were making new cars , different sort of owners now as even the late cars are going on ten years old which is the same as my S was when I bought it .Damian S3
S owners should not act as second class owners they are not .
Welcome John , enjoy the ride

Welcome to the gang!
There are many previous S owners who moved on to later TVR models only to regret selling their S.
Indeed there are a few who have come back from "the Dark Side" and bought another S , simply because there is nothing that comes close in pounds for pleasure.
It's raw, it's basic, it sounds fantastic, & it's relatively cheap.
As I said; nothing comes close, & anyone who does not own an S simply does not know what they are missing.
It's the most fun you can have, with or without trousers.
Then there's the added bonus of this forum. There's an old adage that says: "There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet".
This was actually stolen from this S forum.
Join in with as many activities as you can, there are so many nice people on here, always ready to help & share the ownership experience
Buying an S was the best thing you ever did.
What's your favourite biscuit?
See you around,
Glen.

Is that alright fellas?
