clutch pedal harder to move

Hi,have just replaced clutch master cylinder as it was weeping into footwell.with new master cylinder fitted clutch pedal operation seems a lot heavier than before.seems to be travelling far enough at slave cyl end.any ideas greatly appreciated.thanks

Changed the master, slave and swapped to a braided hose myself earlier this year and had exactly the same experience. Disconcerting at first but soon got used to it being the new "norm" seeing as I'd swapped so many parts. 2 track days, a 2000 mile jaunt around mainland Europe (over some demanding Alps roads) later and all is still good.

Is the bore of the new one the same as the old one? A larger bore would make it heavier.

Edited to add: I believe there are 2 bore sizes available 0.7" and 0.75" which would give you about 14% difference in operating force.

Hi,following on from above - would a smaller bore master cylinder 0.625 5/8 make clutch operation lighter.you are correct in thinking i have fitted a larger bore 0.75 than original 0.7.whats the slave cylinder bore?thanks dave

No, a smaller one would not move enough fluid to fully disengage the clutch. Don't ask how I know :-)

Hi,so if i can locate reseal kit for original master cylinder o.7 id be back to original operation.i have access to a honeing tool.can you get re seal kits for girling master cyl?

Got mine from Here about 3 years ago. Still working fine.

If fitting a bigger bore master cylinder, make sure you don't overtravel the clutch springs and damage them.
