Discussion
After almost two years of changing my mind whether to keep my S3C or replace it by some more modern TVR the decision has been taken. Thanks to all all who now regret having sold their S! (Still I might be interested in buying a Cerbera - depending on how much money is left after the restauration - so if anyone considers selling his...)
The powder coating of the frame has severeal cracks and rust begins to show. So it is time to do something and I decided for a proper cure. As my time and abilities are rather limited I will have most things done and mainly try to have an eye on the budget. There will be many decisions to be taken and I hope I can get some valuable advice here.
This is where I am now:

The frame looks much better than expected and hopefully no welding is necessary. But now that everything is easily accessible there is the time for optimisation. Some might remember from SCH 2011 that some improvements have been achieved already:

I have removed the carpet which was a faded grey and plan to replace it by something black or very dark blue. The seats are going to be replaced by some Jaguar XJS seats, but that is another discussion. Mechanically there is a lot that can be changed, but I have to decide what is worth being done an what is nice to have.
I will keep you informed.

I remember your car from SCH Jens, you had the clever 'cantilever' type bonnet hinges that we hadn't seen before.
Good luck with the restoration, you'll be rewarded with the knowledge that it's sorted for years to come and keep the pictures coming we all love to watch the hard work of others.

as I said before the frame looks much better than what I have seen in other projects:

I haven't made up my mind yet about what to do after having it sandblasted. It will not be powder coated again, but painted with some 2k paint.
The open question is whether to just paint it with some zinc based primer before, or have it hot zinc sprayed. As I use the car from April to October only, most probably its not worth it. I have not checked who does hot zinc spray in the area, what it costs and what additionally has to be done before adding the final paint. It's probably a lot more effort - unless done immediately while it's still warm?
As my car is not original at all I will paint it black for everyone to see it has been done. Seriously, it makes later repairs much less obvious.

2k paint is the way to go!

Red all the way, looks so much better, and for your S series its the original colour. Heres the chassis from my chim, which was originally silver.

Or from my S3.

Sorry Jens...it has to be red. It makes it so easy to see any damage or corrosion in the future. Mind you with enough 2k paint on, it will never rust again.

The shiny parts indicate what I like to change:
- get the radiator in an upright position to improve efficiency
- place swirl and overflow tank somewhere else
- place fuel filter somewhere with better access
- replace engine by something with 24V

The lacquerer made a wry face when he saw the frame and seemed not convinced that the colour will reach all parts. Obviously his possibilities of rotating the frame while painting are rather limited. So probaly its back to zinc spray and powder coat...
In the meantime i have to prepare the pattern for the carpet. Although I have removed the old one carefully, it lacks detail in areas where modifications took place - additional space for the left foot and storage for the roof panels behind the seats.
And I am still working on fitting the XJS seats - have to see how they look being blue or better being painted black.
Still a long way to go an spring is close.
The frame now is stripped completely and I spent the weekend removing unnecessary parts before it gets sandblasted.
