Trimming and painting
Discussion
Chaps - I'm planning a professional re-trim in the new year (there is no-way I have the skills for this) and have a few questions for those who have taken the plunge before, hopefully to allay my concerns. If there is bodywork required as well - what the usual route for going first - interior or exterior work(thinking about windscreen surround and the like). Assuming the windscreen comes out, do people usually get a new one lined up? If the trimmers pull the dash out, assume they take can care of any wiring issues themselves? Any issues surrounding silicon (from polishes etc) prior to painting - assume good body shops like S & D prep with this in mind? I'm sure these kind of questions have cropped up on numerous occasions but would be good to know. Pete
A bit far from you, but Central TVR in the midlands do interiors, paint work and mechanical work, in fact just about anything you want done, in one place. Not had anything done there myself but they have an excellent reputation. Have spoken to them recently regarding repairs to my son's Chimera and they were most helpful.

Thanks Rob. I think Midlands + is the only option anyway as I feel you get ripped off down here. The place I approached in Farnborough (small clue) , just fobbed me off - not sure they're interested in the lowly S littering their wokshop. Would still value the thoughts of those who have done it and what approach they took.
My suggestion would be that you find someone who will take the time to reinstate all the horrible electrics properly without just jamming it all back in and hoping it will work again. I did all my own refitting and getting it all back together neatly and working took a very long time. Time = money though.

I can recommend Dave The Trimmer for upholstery work.

While you’ve got all the interior out I’d also recommend this little mod to the seat belt mounting.

Good luck

Had to I un-modify mine when I put the mx5 seats in. Wonder what it's worth..
Hi Damian,If it's a pair of 7/16 UNF Female XFR7 Rod ends that are now surplus , I'd say got to be worth a cheque for £15 worth of beer tokens all in. I was just about to order a new pair from McGill Motorsport.
If you're happy with that, please PM me your address & I'll get it sent off to you in the post when I get back home on Friday.
Hope this hasn't transgressed any PH rules. If it has, my profuse apologies to the powers that be.

Cheers,
Glen
