Is this the same stuff that B&Q sell for doing exterior walls?

Yes, I believe you want the bricks/cavass stuff. From what Ive read, its better than renovo. I know Wildfire uses it (with great success).

It's the basic stuff, not the plus or advanced stuff. It's around £6 for half a gallon.

I believe you can also use Scotchgard?

I'm not 100% certain of the roof material on the S, but I've used it on convertibles for several years to great success.

Or Fasil. Can get it from camping shops or Halfords (in the caravan section so remember to take your anorak!)

Scotchguard - Is it waterproof?
Thompsons - I have not used it, but it gets good reports.
Fabsil - I've been using it for 10+ years. Does the job.
Renovo - Works but not as good as Fabsil.

There are two different types of THOMPSONS WATER SEAL, one is clear and solvent based the other is white and water based IIRC. The white one is no use at all on a soft top, in fact you'll ruin it if you apply that one. You need the solvent based clear one.

Good stuff and works very well indeed.

I agree. I've used Fabsil on my roof (and the missus's horse's new zealand rug) and I'm well impressed. The rain just beads instantly! Good stuff!

..and if you read the Thomsons waterseal tin it is also designed for waterproofing fabrics, leather, tents etc etc...

That's the one, does brick, masonry, fabrics, leather, tents etc etc...

Just make sure you don't buy the one that does brick and wood only (the milky one).

Yep that's the stuff "Does exactly what it says on the tin" well no it doesn't really, no mention of TVR's on the tin, just bricks and houses and stuff, but good kit all the same.

I did several coats of Thompsons water seal on the S… so that even the Thompsons was running off in the end
