had to re submit as it looked like my rev counter would not work with 24 volts!!laugh

does any-one know if a later - say S3 - rev counter will work with this?

certainly the S1 won't as the new engine does not have coil / distributor etc.

Looks like S3 still signals from coil? Guessing 24v has coil packs and all that modern gubbins?

OOooh Bu99er!!

looks like I'll have to buy new speedo (different diff ratio) and rev counter. I'm not going to find the same style as the original - or with TVR badging frown

I suspect someone like SpeedyCables could re-work your instruments so you could keep the original look

? No idea on cost but from other threads I've read "speedy" is a most inappropriate name!

For example... clicky

Hello google says

Pin 2 on the EDIS-6 module is a tach output - you might want to see if that works with your tvr tach?

I am assuming you are using the edis module? And std boa ecu?

Speedy are expensive and quoted me 90-120 day delivery... Also costs were more than a set of stack gauges. Good luck sounds like it's getting close now.

cheers Dami - I'll try as soon as my new EDIS 6 arrives, the one I purchased 4 months ago does not work (I tried it a couple of days ago on a friends rally car that is 24v powered).

Magpies,
I think you will need one of these.

As you will have coil packs with the 24v engine (not a single ignition coil) you need to take a signal from the EDIS module and feed it through this unit which is basically a large coil of wire which will produce the large voltage spike your old type rev counter needs to operate.
I had to fit something similar to my Chimaera when I went for a Megasquirt ECU for the same reason. I used a relay as these have large coils inside and my rev counter runs fine.
Hope this helps.
Paul.

Agreed re 'Speedy' cables. They do seem to have a very slow turn round, I have used them a couple of times and the name is certainly inappropriate! I am surprised, in view of the growth in restoration work, that someone else isn't competing with them.

Hi Paul

could you draw a basic diagram as to how you wired it up and either post it or mail to me - much appreciated if you can

Mick

I must get mine sorted - I have the Omex ECU specific connection from the ECU to the Tachometer, but no joy. I'm not sure if it is not getting voltage or if the tachometer is working - the wiring in my car is a non-standard. A job for the new year.

Looking forward to catching up with the 24v S1's in the new year too (along with everyone else of course)
