Right guys, as I am always looking for new articles for the Sprint mag....S related...I have a new idea...well someone else's really:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
..This is perfect for S owners as we do do most of our jobs ourselves. Although a lot of us know the main issues, it would help others if we list the top tips/issues in the mag...plus it will raise the S profile a little more
I was thinking of a short article with a paragraph on each point, eg on:
- Front indicator lenses and the alternatives
- Yellow connector and solutions
- Outrigger fixing
- Dash removal issues
- Pressure caps!!
- etc
What I would like is to have some posts here to whittle down the main issues and the comments to put...come on guys its your club and it is up to S - owners, that happy band of brothers to lead the way...
...what have you got?

thinking about the jobs I have had to tackle in my 9 months or ownership:
fuel Sender replacement - how to and part numbers
clutch master, slave and connecting pipe replacement - how to and part numbers
steering column bulkhead bush replacement - how to and parts to use
door card removal - how to
wing mirror upgrades - how to and options available
My only cautionary note is that there would need to be one hell of a disclaimer note in the mag as those of us that work on these cars know that no two TVR cars are the same. The factory seemed to make every car unique and most have had 20 + years of modification and fettling. This might be enough to make the Sprint editors steer well clear of offering 'how to' advice.

Great that you're talking about these ideas guys but someone needs to write these up and we we need decent pictures to support the piece. (Not taken with mobile phone cameras please as they won't print to a decent quality)
The usual warnings etc will be printed so lets see some great Hints and Tips

Andy - great idea.
i have posted on here when i have found 'easy' or 'better' ways of doing stuff - or when i have a result from some work / think / research i have done that i think will help others.
I have also looked on here when I haven't.
key ones for me that I have found / created / developed good solutions to and shared are;
bulkhead bearing
Pressure caps and swirl pots, which way round and the search for the holy grail!
I am happy to help with these and any others if you are stuck!

Speaking as a Luddite technophobe, this is my only way of getting pics onto this forum or emails or whatever.I've been mulling over writing an article for Sprint mag, but if my photos aren't suitable, is it a non-starter?
Can anyone tell me if this example is of too poor a quality to be accepted?
I'm not looking for a full centrefold or anything, just a few pics alongside the text to alleviate the boredom for the poor reader

ETA. NO, I haven't got an expensive gravel driveway, those are just Rice Crispies.....

There have already been articles in Sprint about:
front indicators and alternatives
steering column bearing
dash removal
outrigger repair
... to name a few of those already suggested.
How often do they need to be recycled? (I am not suggesting that they don't, but surely not so soon?)
Maybe an article along the lines of a "buyers guide" (similar to pies' site at tvrsseries.com) but with a paragraph or two of detail on each of the main points, such as the yellow connector (which seems to be commonly seen as the cause of every electrical or running problem on an S, from "car totally dead" to "interior light flickers a bit".

Definitely have to support AutoAndy on this one. I have just posted on the wider forum:

One article per TVR enthusiast per year? Is that far too much?
Glen, nothing wrong with the quality of the pic of your car as far as I can see. Respect for the use you get out of it. Bit worried about your thoughts for a centrefold though, were you thinking of posing draped over the front wing?

Hi Richard,
No, I specifically said I wasn't looking for a centrefold.
Although I wouldn't mind something nice draped across my bonnet
But what do the experts think about the definition of the pic?
If it's good enough, I would go ahead with the article I've been toying with (Ooh-err Missus ).
I dunno how many pixies my thing is, but when I blow it up, it gets quite big without going too fuzzy.
Advice please.........

I'll let you know.

Yes it was taken on my phone, it's the only way I can post pics on here.
I've sent it to you as requested, and await your verdict, fingers crossed.

Thanks,
Glen.
Seriously Andy, I am about to subject my fuel tank to the renovation process offered at Hartlepool Radiators. There has been a great deal of interest in fuel tank issues and there will be more in view of the age of these cars. I am not sure how many other TVR's have similar issues. Reviewing the work offered by one specialist firm isnt new in Sprint, nor should it be a problem. I had thought of 'following' the tank through in photos for personal interest but it strikes me this might well be of wider interest. What do you think?
