So it's cold dark and wet.
How about something to look forward to.
Lets talk Summer, how about it?

Now thats what you call planning ahead?!!! I feel getting a venue this early may be an issue, but does anyone have any suggestions???? I thought Silverstone was an excellent venue and we could easily hold it there again if they would have us!!! But anyone have any other suggestions as to where they would like to have the meet?

Somewhere different would be good........

Any excuse to show that engine off Mike.... its looking good

What type of paint did you use on the rocker covers, and other ally bits n pieces ?????? (I forgot to ask )

Silverstone was ideal for the 2004 meet...

However, IMHO the opportunity to socialise would be high on my agenda. Standing around TVR's gawping is not necessarily my ideal afternoon.

Having a bite to eat a beer and banter is...

Pistonfest this year would have been an great venue... Those wishing to camp, stay, drink etc would have the chance and those who wished to travel for the day also.

I understand that entry costs could become an issue but with advanced planning and notice surely Ted could sort something out...?

Central England, summer, beer, food, other added attractions, like minded car enthusiasts..

What do you say...?

Now that David Gerald have got full dealer status, I bet they would be up for it.
Failing that how about the seaside, hoon down the prom etc etc ?

I have got to agree with Dave on this one to a degree, My ideal meet would be more hooning and less looking! Three different hoons spread through the day and eating, socialising and drinking in between although there are only so many shandys I can stomach in one afternoon!!!!

All suggestions are welcome of course and personally I dont think Pistonfest is a bad idea as if we can camp that solves the shandy issue

Come on then lets have lots of suggestions and I will get my thinking cap on.

I'm easy as far as venue goes, I have no idea where in the country I will be or even if I'll still have the S . But which ever way I'll probably have to travel quite a distance.

No change there then...

P.S. if Wildfire wins the S bits raffle, I suggest a GPS

Maybe I'm just being tightfisted and not prepared to spend £X,000 on petrol getting to somewhere in the frozen North, but the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is a great place to meet, loads of good driving roads and Pubs !! down here in the New Forest (ohmigosh that sounds like I've volunteered to organise a treasure hunt), followed by a parade on Bournemouth Seafront where they do classic car evenings on Saturdays during the Summer. Any takers for say late May ?

I'm not that keen on motoring down there either, for a similar reason!

thats a good shout but isn't the car park full of speed humps?

Certainly would make for a good environment for the meet...

Sorry but the meet is arranged so as many S owners as possible attend the meet. The location should be somewhere cenral so most will have to travel but not that far.

If there is anywhere in the UK where it would cost you over a £1000 in petrol I would certainly get the car in for a service

Ah no, after my Silverstone debacle, my g/f has bought me GPS for Christmas. She likes being lost less than me.

I don't know how you guys/gals feel but the New Forest and Bournmouth sounds ideal and May appears to be one of the better months for decent weather over the last few years.
I would presume that camping is not that difficult to find or B&B's for the old Fs like me with bad backs.

I went to Griff Growl at Gaydon .
It has the motor museum ( which is very good ) plus a good restaurant and lots of tarmac , its also central.
We could suggest combining the event and ask the big bad wedges along............. and call it mania

Gayodn would be better for me. Bournemouth is 350 - 400 miles for me. Pretty far for a meet.

Gaydon is not bad access wise via M40. I went there for the Griff Growl in the 3000S and thought the museum was well worth a look and the local roads are hoonable.
The only thing is that as somebody else said, it could end up as bonnets open and look at my clean engine compartment rather than and fun.

Why not make a weekend of it.

There is also a reason for not wanting to park up with loads of S's, if you look in my engine compartment so I'd rather be on the move as much as possible.

Pity, thought you'd all like to come down South and see my Scania 12-litre engine shoehorned into an "S", it's an inline six for long-distance, maximum-weight high-efficiency operation, and turbocompounding on the 440 and 470 variants improves efficiency and boosts economy. There’s always plenty of power in reserve, so journey times are consistently good. (OK that's what it says on their website, and it does explain my fuel bills).

Seriously though, failing the New Forest / Bournemouth, there are some other great drives a bit further North on the Dorset and Wiltshire Downs, around Cranborne Chase, and up around Warminster, must be some Pistonheads up there ?

We always seem to have this northest / southest debate when it comes to meetings and everyone rightly says lets meet in the middle.
Is there any S owner that is not a computer numpty who could, say, do a survey of S owners based on the first part of your post code, the town bit to preserve privacy.
Then we could get a true middle meeting ground based on the amount of owners and their locations.
Whilst on the subject, its probably not a bad thing for the TVRCC to do as well for the national meet .

Harry

Who considers 3 hours travel sufficient far enough for a tyre kicking day out, once or twice a year, beyond that then...........

Easy for me cos I am in the middle so I can get quite a long way in 3 hours but I shudder at the thought of driving for 3 hours to kick tyres, I saw enough of that at the Griff Growl.

Surely we can do better than that, barbi, treasure hunt, dinner, hoon, whatever lets be a bit more creative. It doesn't have to cost loads of dosh.

Lets break the mould
