Blimey you can get the tunnel for about £90, quicker and far more flexible.

I've not done the Chunnel yet so am keen to give it a go..

A wise man (Autoandy) once told me Chunnel accept Tesco currency.

Due to paying for my car insurance by Tesco credit card I am a millionaire in Tesco points, so I reckon I'll be taking this option and cashing in all that is pinned to my notice board. Means I can save the real currency for where it should be spent - at the pump

...if you want to give it a try, park your car inside an old portacabin, get out and stand next to it and get some friends to rock the cabin about for half an hour.....such fun...

...but I suppose it's quicker than dinning on oysters and caviar on the cross channel ferry whilst elegant hostesses give you full massages....well, full English and promenade decks packed with smokers, but it is almost the same...

....shame the tunnel isn't a drive thru...just imagine how much trouble a group of loud TVRs could get into...

Just seen this thread so please ignore my channel crossing comments on the other !

We're taking the train to Calais late Thursday night. A 10:50pm train. Very late but the crossing is quick by train.

What's the consensus on a suitable crossing time to return on Tuesday?

Gents, I'm as keen as you all sound to get my crossings booked but I suggest hanging on for a couple of days, I don't think a few days will impact prices that much...

• I'm still not certain what the format of the Bosch day will be and when we'll be leaving Boxberg.
• Until I know more about Bosch and can answer some of the questions I've been asked by some of you I'm not 100% certain which hotel we'll be at on Monday night - aim is to get to as close to Calais as possible without driving a stupid distance after a day "on it"
• Until location of hotel is known I'm not comfortable booking my return crossing. I normally plan to leave the final hotel 08.30/09.00ish (bit tired by this point and don't fancy a silly o'clock start to get home!) and distance to Calais from there will determine what time I book.

Feel free to make your bookings now if you wish but thought you should know the above first

Having re-read above I thought I should add that both hotels I've got lined up are the same price so there's no impact on costings whichever one we stay at

I haven't before now because previously small groups have wanted to cross out/back at different times. Some like me make a dash for the coast from work to save time off, others take the day off to get to Calais earlier and have a relaxing dinner. And lots of beer
Also when splitting it between those down in the tunnel and those up above the numbers have not made it worthwhile.
