certainly thinking about it.
I have an adjustable limiter in the rear brake line, placed it where the 'cubby hole' is at the rear of the centre console. A hydraulic handbrake would have to be in the brake line to the rear of this, relatively easy due to running aeroquip. Once I have my seats in place (trial fit) I can then look at where to fit the cylinder and how to connect the handbrake to it - or even fit a second lever! I may well wait an see how good the standard handbrake is first.

I may be having a senior moment here, but didn't Land Rover handbrakes work by clamping friction pads onto the propshaft?

I thought some Citroens had them a few years ago?
They work well enough on aircraft I have known.

To be acceptable for the MOT our rally Peugeot 205gt had to have an R pin through the handbrake so that it could not be accidentally knocked off. That pin was on a security wire and was pulled out during road or stage use. We did not have handbrake cables. (If you think about it they would be too dangerous on a rally car; the brake pipes can be run inside the body out of danger but the cables cannot. Catch a cable on an obstruction puts a brake on hard and could result in a big 'off'.)

Because the MOT Tester's manual says "Hydraulic parking brakes as a sole means of operation are not acceptable on vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1968. However, they may be used to assist the application or release of a mechanical brake."

It also says that a reason for failure is "For vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1968 the parking brake is not capable of being maintained in operation by direct mechanical action only." I am not an MOT tester, but I'm surprised that an R-pin through the handle of a hydraulic system, was deemed to comply with those requirements.

Most of the hydraulic handbrakes are lockable in the on position but this is no good for a MOT as the system will bleed and loose some pressure allowing the vehicle to slip.
The Transmission brakes are still a mechanical handbrake so are allowed by the MOT.
My friend runs a Drift WRX and has a pin that locks the normal handbrake release button so the ratchet is locked off, this allows the handbrake to be pulled on and released quickly, Kills the cables, he is now fitting a hydraulic handbrake. You can now get hydraulic and a combined mechanical cable as well.
I have dual rear callipers, one pr Wilwood 4 pot Intergas and a VX220 which is just for the handbrake, I'm going to connect the hydraulic handbrake to this just as it would have been a foot brake on the car.

Going to put mine forward of the gear stick so it's a push to brake, only probe is the dash will have to go back in two pieces.
I don't mind that as it will be easier to re upholster.
So First mark out and cut out the tunnel floor (neat so it will fit back)
Mark out some 10mm steel so it is thick enough to drill and tap M8 (won't be able to get to nuts from the underside), I used 50mm X 6mm strips to weld to the plate and chassis.
Weld it all up and test fit.
Weld in place and glass back in the piece you cut out.
I tested the hand brake on a old calliper, just put a piece of steel and bled the system to see how fat the handbrake travels, it only moves about 50mm at the top of the handle and is about 100mm away from the dash at full pressure.
