The same as it happens as I've been quoted locally but the new ones won't be rising rate and probably not exactly the same length. If that's the case then I'd have all shorts of issues with ride height.If you do decide to go for powder coating I would be interested to know how much they charge (presumably for pre-treatment by dipping or gritblashing a well as coating). The cost seems to have risen quite steeply locally. Not sure if it is the cost of the process or just a greedy firm!

I've recently had a couple of sets of wheels powder coated at the wheel specialist in Elesmere Port, and they were doing some springs....and yes they do strip and blast before coating.... Just a quick heads up.... Just spoke to Greg from the wheel specialist Elesmere Port...... He said that springs cost £10 +vat per spring, as long as its a stock colour..... Red, white, black etc..
If you want a non stock colour, he has to cover the price of a box of powder (around) £40 quid, so only viable if its a bit of a group deal....
Oh and he can chemically strip, or blast the old springs...
On a personal note, I'm more than happy to recommend these guys, the place is spotless, and they're very customer friendly..

Try Chicago Coatings ( in an old dark satanic mill in Mossley ).
Gritblasting & powdercoating in basic colours, eg black, white, silver & maybe others. They are very cheap & cheerful, but not the quickest turnround time if you're in a hurry. Allow a fortnight or so.
The finish may also have a few inclusions, so I wouldn't recommend them for important showy stuff like wheels, but great for sumps, springs, brake drums, swirl pots, rocker covers etc.
For top quality flawless finish & a very quick service, I don't think you could do better than "The Wheel Specialist" Manchester branch.
There's probably a franchise near you in Preston.
I am delighted with my wheels ( yet to be fitted ).

Thanks Quinny, I though my local place was getting a bit steep, so did Glen when he asked them for a wheel quote. Matter of interest, how much was it per wheel?

Richard.....a few weeks back I had a set of 17" RL's done in gunmetal.... Brilliant job, and it cost £280 for them to remove tyres, strip wheel, coat, refit tyres and balance...
Then this week they've done my mates estorils in anthracite... Cost was £270, and hey look great

In the end I went to The Wheel Specialist in Manchester.
Original quote was £312 for "Flash Chrome" finish, including strip, refit & balance, but as I had no tyres on mine, after holding out for a while, I negotiated a special deal with them, £200 for the set of 4.
They are great to deal with, very professional, & did a fantastic job, just like new only better. They dip, strip blast & prep, attend to any blemishes or kerbing on the wheels, then heat them in a humidity controlled booth to drive out any moisture, then they are powdercoated black all over, then the Flash Chrome powdercoat is applied to the outer faces.
The result is superb. Turnround time - next day. It the same day if you drop them off first thing
The centres I am doing in black self- adhesive vinyl ( still ongoing ), but I'm leaving the spoke edges as they already look good.
I'll post pics when I get the tyres fitted, hopefully by the end of the month.
I'll take them back to TWS for this, because I know they'll take care with them.
