Hurricane + Tree + TVR SV8 = Heart Ache

A couple of photos from the Storm the other day, what a B******D, several hundred hours last summer, full body off restore, sitting quietly on a SORN waiting for the Spring....anyone know where I can get a new swirl pot, and someone to repair the hole it caused in the bonnet, also the tear in the wing, and the broken mounting bracket, and a re spray?

I also hope the damage is not too bad.
Looks like it could have been a whole lot worse if that tree had fallen a few feet more to the right.
At least nobody was ( physically ) hurt.

Hopefully it's not to bad. Look on the bright side it could have been a lot worse had the tree been a few degrees different . Hope it was was insured and repaired for summer. All the best . richard

Hi Chris, that is very kind, I may well take you up on the offer, herewith a pic of the existing one for reference
Amazingly enough the damage is remarkably light, lots to repair on the Bonnet, with the mounting bracket pulled out, bonnet latch spring bent, lots of crazing etc. I am waiting to see if it is repairable to a decent standard, or if we need to have a new Bonnet made.

This was to be the year of the new hood and drivers side window motor, how plans change...and guess what the insurance ended on Jan 21st, so it will all have to come out of the back pocket.

From the look of that a nice new one wouldn't go a miss but maybe a new filler neck could be soldered on?

This just a note to thank all for their sympathetic words, much appreciated. The damage is extraordinarily light, bit of a miracle really. The branch that hit had fallen over 40 feet and been blown sideways about 15 yards. The shelter was made from ex GPO telegraph poles, and they took a huge amount of force, with the roof forming a sort of ski slope so the only real damage is the Bonnet, Swirl pot and a little bit to the corner of the main body shell. As someone commented, a few inches to the right, and the and it would have been a totally different story. One good bit was it started on the turn of the key, and I was able to drive her away.

Was I insured...no, it ran out late January, so being that the car was on SORN and happily tucked up for winter, we decided to leave re insurance until spring. Big lesson there or everybody. I was talking to the David Gerald TVR, and they were aware of several total losses to vehicles in garages whilst un insured on SORN. One good thing is they can make a new bonnet if needed as they have the moulds. an indicative cost did cause a bot of a sharp intake of breath, but reasonable I suspect given the amount of work involved, and it would be absolutely first class.

Sadly all the repairs must come out of the back pocket, so any good ideas I would be delighted to hear them.
