Doing Donughts
Discussion
Who here has tried in their S? I gave it some welly in a wet car park last night, it was great fun
very easy (although gaining some skill going round a cone surely takes practise) and must be 100 times better for your tyres on a wet surface than in the dry
Definitely going to have another go next time it rains, which is likely to be soon

Try it on gravel, great fun, very noisy and looks very impressive!
It makes no difference if it's wet or dry.
The only thing is it can chip your paint behind the rear wheels.
yep, see my thread in general gassing the other week after my works conference
even better on gravel, get into your front wheel drive everyday hack and try reverse donuts! excellant!

Yes, I saw that the other day. Shameful!
I used to love driving my BM's for the same reason (had 4 so far), not that many RWD cars around now really. I had great fun in my last 5 series, such a big car wizzing around sideways, you should see peoples faces as they look on open mouthed!
I prefer the front drive now for a daily commute especially during winter. My VW did really well in the snow last year considering it has 18" alloys and massive low profile tyres.
there is actually a bit of technique to it to get the revolutions quite right to be fair Tim. Its easy to do the 180 part but keeping the "spin" going and feathering the accelerator sometimes needs more thought than you might guess.
of course, with your radio controlled cars its easy
my radio controlled tuscan does wicked donuts on the wood flooring

Trouble is though, tyres arn't a fiver a pair, and several lengthy donught sessions spent learning and perfecting feathering techniques would finish off new tyres in no time.
One of my 'favourite car moments' before the days of the internet and readily available videos (of an automotive nature
) was me at 16 in Canada, watching agog as a stunning black trans am applied steering lock and throttled himself around, then gentlyslowly cruised into his parking space. Looked so cool I never forgot it. Anyone know what the bib might do in the UK, if one gets caught playing in an empty parking lot? Is the act of donation an offence?

Lets cut em some slack though, anyone who chauffeurs their girlfriend to McDonalds for dinner, followed by car park apperatif entertainment should win our sympathy votes. In a nice happy-meal kind of way
