Odd things you find in your car's history folder...
Discussion
I was having a rake through the history folder for my S Series the other day and I was looking at the restoration photographs. It looks like the car was originally fitted with a Cosworth YB engine from a Sierra Cosworth rather than the BOA 24 valve Scorpio unit that is in there now.
I was wondering if anyone on here knows any of the history of my car - it's an 1990 S3 registration number H*** NFX in Storm Grey. It was rebuilt in 2007 to a fairly high specification and I think the YB block was fitted then. I have rolling road read outs showing 250bhp but I am now thinking that must have been for the YB engine. I wonder what happened to that engine and when the BOA engine was fitted?

Interesting I considered a YB for mine but didn't want to go power crazy.. My old sapphire had 360bhp when I sold her. 0-60 wasn't great but 80-120 was breathtaking
250 is a funny powe though stg1 tune (as originally designed I believe) was 280 and is a simple chip change (£200) from std. So it's too low for a YB or too much for a BOA. Odd..
With a YB it's kind of a replica of the S race car.

Looking through my history file.
The Previous owner a gentleman in his 60's of 8 years had only covered 800 mile in total, but had the misfortune of a recovery vehicle being used 2 miles from his house.
Recovery 21/07/2008 Mileage 45630 fault reported and fixed as (backed out connector of ECU)
I guess he lost confidence as i purchased 01/07/2013 on a genuine 45854.
I've covered 4,500 trouble free miles and tomorrow it's going on a 130 mile journey and Sunday the journey back (Fingers crossed)
Think there's a bit of proof in that if you don't use them problems arise.

I like the V6 sound track I must admit. With the Top Boss manifolds and BOB cams plus the Emerald ECU it should push out about 275bhp (I think)......
Lols never seen one up there even with TB's. Good luck mind and if you ever get her on a dyno share the print out..Mine is being mapped in coming weeks so will do the same.. I am only shooting for 240-250

I predict the bob cams and manifolds give you 240 or so.. Happy to be wrong though.

I think this may be optimistic tooI think mine MAY get to 210/220 - I'll get it on a rolling road sometime
would get to 275 with turbos though
however most BOAs are not rebuilt prior to fitting and I wouldn't do that to a high(ish) mileage engine without a full rebuild.Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
