I don't know the car specifically.
It looks like a superb example and I'd think you'll struggle to find a lower mileage and more original V8S.
I'd really want to know more about how it's been maintained for the last 23 years. Any car of that age would need a suspension refresh, new rubber etc etc etc. The chassis might be as new or a real mess.
I guess the point is; if expense has been lavished on the car thoughout it's life, it's probably a gem. If the annual stamps and services reflect oil changes and the like, you might find there's a lot of expense to follow if you progressed.
Needless to say, a car with that mileage has hardly been driven. If you start to use it, you'll probably find a few things fail along the way.
I really think these cars are hard to value. The best ones rarely change hands, and when they do, often not in the open market. For that money, you have to really want a V8S over the alternatives (of which there are many). On the other hand, it's still fantastic value for a 23 year old British V8 modern classic, which was made in very low numbers.
Good luck and the guys on here are incredibly knowledgable, so don't be afraid to ask questions.

+1 Would love to know the state of the chassis. The photos don't show it in the the engine bay, maybe for good reason
They should have access to get it in the air on a lift, surely if it's as good as it's eluded to then they would have made a big deal on the chassis condition with at least a photo showing it. Just because it's low mileage does not mean that it won't rust.Good luck with your search, they are great cars. Do your due diligence and you'll find a good un
Thanks all for advice.
Been a while since my last TVR which was a 3000S.
Guess nothing has changed in terms of the most 3 important things - chassis, chassis and chassis.
Not in UK at present so will have to try to find a way for this to be checked.
This is a whim purchase but I have always loved the S series and this would be a revitalisation of my youth.
Don't suppose anyone lives near this garage???

Kerridges used to be TVR dealer for several years and continue to do repair & service work on them. Like all garages I have heard mixed reports but noting really bad; they are still going so they can't be rubbish? Never had any dealings with them myself so cn't help you a lot.
Exactly what I was looking for, very encouraging as I thought they were just another garage. I can obtain a written report from them and it will hold credence.
Be careful it’s not just your knowledge that’s rusty! It’s a case of buyer beware! When I bought my V8S in 2006 in came with this….....

So, backed up by an independent inspection I went ahead and bought it thinking that was one thing I wouldn’t have to worry about in the future. However…in 2010 when I had the engine bay done we found that the out-rigger on the right had a hole in it about 4” long. When the underbody paint was scraped off the full horror was there to be seen. Assuming that it hadn’t rotted through again in 4 years it meant that the “repair” in 2005 was a complete bodge. New gusset plates had been very badly welded over the hole to hide it. You can get a feeling for the quality of the welding from this….

Luckily the one on the left was OK and safe but the welding on that side was crap as well. I could have done it better!
It’s all sorted now, but it just goes to show you can’t place your trust in anything unless you’ve done it yourself or had it done by someone you can trust. My advice to anyone having chassis work done would be to insist on seeing the repair BEFORE it’s all painted over and tucked back under the car. Good quality welding is a work of art and clearly stands out from a lot of the crap you see produced by so called “professionals”. Have a look at Alan's work to see what a quality welding looks like.

Wow, that's not good. Thanks for heads up. So, backed up by an independent inspection I went ahead and bought it thinking that was one thing I wouldn’t have to worry about in the future. Maybe I will just give this a miss as it looks like this garage isn't that good after all?
Having just got mine back from Mat Smith, I have no qualms in wholeheartedly recommending his services. He has replaced the whole outrigger tube & corner rather than fixing it; when I collected it yesterday he had kept the old bits to show how the tube had invisibly rotted aound an original repair. He also has rebuilt his S1 chassis to remarkable standard. For your own piece of mind, it might be worth your while contacting him to see if he would be prepared to go & inspect the car for you? see www.matsmithsportscars.com

PS- if you do end up buying it, let us know & we could maybe meet up whilst you're down here? Or even better- pick it up early Sun 5th April & join us on TGTVR Norfolk Day Out?

Used to come to your meetings with Mark, he had white 3000M from Preston. Tim who's girlfriends dad had Bentley, did my engine for me.
Have replied to email.

Have emailed Matt so will wait see what he says.
I am keeping my options open as Steve Reid may also be able to help.
Ps - V8s4me - I never take anything at face value but thanks for the advice. I was merely making a statement based on your post. That certainly wouldn't put me off buying from them.
hi, only just picked up your thread. iif you havent n=bought this or any other v8s yet, i would be more than willing to check this car over for you. i live in bury st edmunds. i not only own one and love it, but am a qualified engineer who also happens to have owned over 70 cars privately, and know exactly what to look for.
Once these cars are up on ramps practically everything is visible and accessable to prod, pry and tap.
i have already looked over the outside of this car just for general interest. It is very very shiney! not sure at first glance if the bonnet had been resprayed. Interior is immaculate. Wheels are the exclusice Oz Split rims in very good condition.
But if looking at it for someone else, need to get on their ramps and give it a thorough inspection. Irrelevant of the low mileage.
I also know the last v8s kerridges sold, as it was sold by a mate of mine and then purchased by another friend of mine. So i also know the recent sales service that kerridges have performed!!
send me a privat message if interested in getting in touch, leaving your contact details.
