Have noticed recently (mainly because it would be hard not to) that my S pulls a bit to the left under braking. Am a bit of a luddite, so assume this means that the pads on one side (the right?) are a bit more worn than the other.

Any thoughts from those of you who know more about these things would be appreciated.

And, if it pads, any suggestions for what I should replace them with (or, more likely, pay someone else to replace them with)?

Thanks

Martin

It probably means that one of the calipers has seized, or more likely the slider has jammed. Bad news if you have to stop in a hurry, and worth fixing sharpish.

Cheers, sounds like good advice, although it sounds as if when I get it back from having the chassis cleaned and rustproofed it will be back in for the brakes.

Good job I walk to work at the moment, then.

Would just echo GreenV8S here - a seized caliper under light braking is an annoyance - but under heavy or emergency stop breaking can lead to major brown trousers as the pull gets progressively much stronger.

Be aware of the road surface too as a poor one or one with a lot of camber can give the impression that the car is pulling to the left.

there's a stretch on my normal route home that does this so much that when I'm in the TVR I go a different route!

Find a quiet straight flat road and try some gentle braking there.

The is also the possiblity that one of the brake hoses has partially collapsed, this happened to me on an old VW I had.

I had a similar experience to this earlier in the year. Several bits of road - where the pull to the left went just a little bit crazy. Turned out that the camber was accentuating a problem with the tracking. A trip to Austec sorted it out. Your car shouldn't do this if it's properly set up.

You've not seen the road A testament to the impact of HGV's down country lanes, poor maintenance and service companies digging trenches. They've just put a sign up saying that it will be closed for a whole weekend, hopefully they are going to re-surface it.

I had the geometry fully sorted out but it's always bad on that section - I notice it in the Alfa too.
