Daft idea for chassis protection

Hi, given that hammerite comes off the chassis, especially where stones hit, I have taken to using a waxoyl based spray on underseal. It dries nice and black and not sticky, but keeps the chassis wet and wont chip. But, I have noticed that 1.5 inch waste water pipe fits nicely over the chassis tubes, what about splitting some pipe and clipping it over the exposed bits behind the front wheel? Would certainly stop stone chips?

Duck Tape along the leading edges?
After a new coat of hammerite of course.

My concern is always the front corners by the front body mounting triangles where it seems impossible to know if you have covered it all,and the leading tube directly under the under the tank and above the exhaust which always seems to catch it.

I think the potential for trapping moisture is too great. I made up 'mudflaps' out of flexible stiff rubber sheeting (it's actually called 'Kaylan' and used for fabricating rally car mud flaps). These are attached to the chassis tubes behind the front wheels with pull ties. Seem to do the job.
