Wotcha
A mate of mine is considering removing the gearbox on his V8 S is it an engine out job ? Or can it be done from underneath?

Definitely engine out jobby, I'm afraid....
But its a good chance to clean up the chassis and touch up on the paint.
Make sure he has or gets the TVR uprated release bearing carrier and looks at the clutch release fork to see if its OK around the ball pivot.
Its not too difficult - with 2 of you - 1 on top, operating the crane or hoist and the other underneath the car making sure the 'box clears the chassis, in particular the gear stick fouling on the glass fibre bits.

Probably a good time to do the exhaust manifold gaskets as well
