yea got quite low miles as well.
[can of worms]
… but is that a good thing…?
[/can of worms]
I would say so, its a RV8. Not a direct comparison, but many spd 6's were rebuilt 3 times before reaching 25k.
Id be happy with a RV8 of that milage.
An 11 year old car that's done 30-odd k miles…? That's bordering on underuse IMHO…
These things need to be used, otherwise things like oil seals tend to go hard and leak.. *
* - Disclaimer: that does not mean the car in question is bad etc etc… not seen it etc etc… just an opinion…
Looks lovely - - but I would be concerned about the low mileage. My ideal would be to have history demonstrating about 5K to 7K miles a year....and all the servicing paperwork.
You've got to ask yourself what the state of oilseals, radiator, brake/clutch slave and master cylinders etc. are like IMHO.
However,it does have all the bells and whistles, and clearly has had a lot of polish applied in 'all those important little places'- very much someones P & J!
Is that a Griff set up for the exhaust manifolding?

It's not about the Reliability of the engine, it's about the degradation of the general condition of the car with lack of use and the looseness of the engine. A well and regularly used car will have had the majority of problems sorted out. Little used cars do not develop these. The Speed 6 generally faied due to a quality problem with the finger followers, not through under use. So there is no direct comparrison true, but not because they are different engine. Many of the Speep 6 problems are specific to the engine, where as what Podie is saying is a general Topic.
Example: My father's Mini Cooper S has stood for a few years now, dry, undeer dust sheet, bores oiled battery conditioned etc. But the suspension has started going, the tank has deposits in it and fuel filters have started causing starvation problems when he tries to get it started. My brothers mini is kept outside and runs every day. No problems, flew through the MOT, a little corrosion, but everything is working fine.
Components are designed to be used and not sit. Things can sieze, corrode and many other things through lack of use. Short trips out cause the engine to over wear as it never hits full operating temps, The engine is never truly loose as the car is not pushed and the components do not get a thurough work out, heads and valves can coke up as the car is often running rich. Another Classic example is the fuel sender unit. The tracks on them are designed to be lubricated by petrol. If the car is only run once in a while, and a tank lasts a long time; the tracks can degrade very quickly
as it will spend a lot of time dry.
Basically you can do just as much harm to a car through lack of use than you can through lack of care. (Says the man with 3 other cars standing for 2 years) And in some case more miles can be better.
Re the low mileage........ my s has just gone through 24000 miles... which is obviously low mileage, but it did have a full tvr service history....
all I have needed is a new radiator a gearbox rebuild and a new clutch master cylinder!!!! a mere £1800 which was paid by the warranty
so I agree that the low milers can have problems.
Have to say that since that was done in August the car has been spot on apart from needing a new battery which is just one of those things...

Isn't this the same car? Wasn't it advertised at that price a couple of months ago?
