Can anybody point me in the direction of a 'How to' with photo's for carrying out the Chim Roof Stay Upgrade to a V8S. I think it should be straight forward but am a little nervous of how/where to drill the lower holes....I believe that the petrol tank is also close by

Any link to a 'How to' or photo's of the finished upgrade (especially where fixed to body/roof) would be appreciated.

Cheers

Larry

You'll need to drill the vertical bulkhead behind you so you'll miss the tank as that's below the parcel shelf/floor. I believe you'll need to drill new holes a bit further below the original ones. Can anyone who has done the mod on their S help out here with specifics?

I recently fitted a pair of Griff stays to my S. I started by removing the drivers side stay, leaving the passenger side in place and under tension. I attached stay to he roof using the existing bolt and washers. I then offered the lower bracket up to the rear wall and locked it as if it was holding the roof in place. I then got a piece of timber that was long enough to wedge between the bottom of the bracket and the vertical part below. pushing it up until the stay was tigh. Making sure that the stay was parallel to the original I then drilled a hole, using the hole in the bracket as a jig. I then repeated the operation on the passenger side.

Thinking of doing this myself, now you have done the work, it would be very helpful to know the measurement between the old holes and the new ones, this would allow us to do the mod without the block of wood etc...thanks
