When on full lock, either forwards or in reverse, going 1mph backing in or out of the drive/tight corners I can feel 'little bumps'

It feels as if the wheels are bumping over small stones. Hard to explain.

Girlfriend said her car does this, and not to worry. I would rather find the cause myself. As I said it only happens on full lock. Any ideas as to the cause and whether it requires attention?

Maybe the inside of the tyre is rubbing on the inner wheel arch (mine does in one direction but not the other - probably because in typical TVR style the inner wheel arch is a different shape on each side) - you should be able to see the marks if you turn the wheels full lock and see where they might touch...

Failing CV joints give similar problems on full lock (forward or back) - usually due to a slight flat on one of the ball bearings - could be that ?

Hmm, what are CV joints? How can I tell if this is the problem, and what happens if I ignore it?

no problem

the CV joints are the joints in the rear driveshafts - is this clonking or vibration coming from the front or rear? If the rear, the CV's could be the problem.

Look under the back of the car - see the two shafts that come out of the central differential, and go out to the hubs? on each end there is a flexible joint. As the wonky one said, they have ball bearings inside and transfer the drive to the back wheels.

You can check them by crawling under and grabbing the middle of the driveshaft and twisting it back and forward in the direction of rotation - there should be no feelable free play. Be careful that you don't feel natural backlash in the diff pinion, amd mistake that for a worn CV - hold the driveshaft and diff flange in separate hands and you'll feel any movement between the two... remember there's a CV on each end of each drive shaft - 4 in all!

Oh and if you ignore it, the vibration gets worse and worse till your teeth fillings drop out. (your GF might like it though )

It must be the front wheel arch, as its coming from the front. I'll check later on today. Cheers mate
