Bit smoky

Ive had a smoky engine on my S1,Ive got the engine out bores seem perfect I`m hoping its going to be something simple like valve seals is there any thing I should be looking for apart from giving the heads a birthday

I would look at the rings, are you putting new rings in?

Perhaps do the core plugs while the engine is out. Maybe new big end shells as a precaution.

But, in general I think you are right with heads, new valve stem seals, regrind, etc. Is this the time for a new high lift cam?

cheers nic,I`ll take your advice and change rings,shells etc,bye the way whats involved in changing cams and what do I gain?Ive looked in Burton power cat.and there quite reasonable.PS is there anywhere else I can try for spares Burton Powers fine but its still nice to have another option.thanks for your help Bob.
