Hi Chaps...Happy New Year! Sorry not to have met more at the 28th Grasshopper meet, but quality rather than quantity!
Whilst I was busy a couple of afternoons painting and waxoiling the underside over Christmas I noticed that the steering column rattles about where it comes through the bulkhead, though the uj's seem fine further down.
Consulted the bible and it gives two TVR part numbers for the bearing and mount. BUT...Can you get them anywhere????
I am pretty sure mine has the bearing rather than the Escort bush arrangement the bible mentions as I can see four or five small bolts around the seal from the engine side of the bulkhead.
Can anyone help me with who I should try for a replacement please? or any advice about how to tighten or inspect the existing bearing to check for ware?

Cheers all.

Just done mine with kit from David Gerald (£37). Make sure you put small washers under bolt heads on the inside of the car where they go into the plastic bearing holder. If you don't, and you tighten them up from the wheel-arch side - they will nicely bury themselves into the soft plastic - doh! Also, not sure about the clip I've seen mentioned in some areas ref this job? I didn't have one - just the bearing, holder and nylon bush (grey thing).

The need for the clip seems to relate to the direction in which the sleeve (that sits between the round inner of the bearing and the triangular steering column) inserts into the bearing. If it's inserted from the footwell, then the clip's not required, but if it's inserted from the engine side, then the clip's needed to retain the sleeve within the bearing.

If required, the clip is a 'special washer' from a Sierra steering column - 25p each from Ford dealers.

Thanks all. I will try David Gerald for a set.
It's all a question of knowing where to look on this box and some are evidently keener at it, and better at it, than others!
