O K to use ?

I shall be doing a mini- service on the S this weekend, so I popped down to the garage today to purchase some oil. Castrol gtx 15w50 is what I came away with. When I got home, on closer inspection the oil container had 2008 stamped on it. Does oil have a prolonged shelf- life. ?

Personally I'm no expert, but I would say that as long as it's a sealed container with no signs of corrosion, it should be OK.
Better than using some of the really thin modern stuff anyway, especially in that warm Spanish sunshine.
